 "The Star of Pearl" is the first watch with flexing seconds, designed by William Anthony of London. It was set into oval shape with automatic flexing seconds. If the second pointed at the position of 12 o'clock, it will completely stretch out till the top of the dial. When it displayed the time 9:15, the seconds will automatically shorten to assure they will not touch the side of the dial.
